Writing Projects

Of everything I do, I am the most proud of my writing. It is consistently the form of creativity that forces me outside of my comfort zones. While I have many ideas for future projects, here is a page describing my current writing projects and the stages they are in.

Fate of Shadows
Young Adult Fantasy

This is my first novel. I started working on it close to seven years ago, and I am actively working to publish it.

All her life, Rin Nowell has dreamed of adventuring beyond the quiet borders of her village. What better opportunity to explore the world than traveling to find her long-lost mother? But what was supposed to be a short journey becomes a fight against the elements in the blizzarding mountains. Lost and discouraged, Rin meets Zarus Lowwenth, a mysterious person living on the lonesome mountains. Distrustful of the stranger, but having no other options, Rin accepts his offer of shelter and follows him to his eerie castle. But as Zarus offers Rin a map to find her way off the mountain, Zarus's old demon mentor, The Dark Tyrant Eretimis, shows up unannounced and seeking his allegiance. Zarus refuses, and before Eretimis disappears, the Tyrant threatens to kill Rin. Suddenly thrown into a world of demons and magic, Rin must flee the frozen mountain and escape Eretimis's threat. Zarus volunteers to guide her to safety, but while they run, Eretimis issues a bounty on them... and his loyal eyes are all over.

The duo forms an uncanny friendship as they face one trial after another at the hands of Eretimis's loyal subjects. If Rin is caught, she will never learn why her mother abandoned her twelve years ago. If Zarus is captured, he will be forced to succumbed to the Dark Tyrant's rule after a lifetime of running from it. Fate may be out of their control, but neither will surrender without a fight.

Breath of Life
Young Adult Fantasy

The sequel to Fate of Shadows. This book is currently in the editing stage.

After discovering her abilities, Rin learns to control them while figuring out how to reunite with Zarus.

Locked deep in the fortress, Zarus must use his wit to stay alive and find a way to freedom.

Mountains
Magical Realism Fiction

This is my newest project, currently in the drafting stage with an unofficial title.

All Anna Johansson wants is to find her purpose in the world. She used to think that was a life of creating art and stories, but has had no luck creating a professional career out of it. And after he father passes away, the desire to create begins to dwindle.

While photographing a waterfall one day, Anna contemplates her future, when all the sudden her head erupts with a powerful roar, one that only she seems to hear.

Determined to find the source of what is calling to her, Anna ends up on a mission to Northern Sweden to answer the call.

When Ashes Rise
Adult Fantasy

This novel is currently in the plotting stage, not yet having been written into a draft.

Names symbolize the best and the worst of us. So to Lue, left with no memories save only her name and the remembrance of a pair of silver eyes, names are little more than pieces to the puzzle of her past. Waking up in a dead world with the power to walk between the Parallels of reality, she is determined to find the owner of the silver eyes and discover who—or what—she is. She's willing to give up anything to learn about her past, and some people are far too willing to accept that offer.

Fatal Treasures
Fantasy

This is a short story I wrote for a writing contest in 2022. Unfortunately, I did not win, but I still love the tale.

I hold all rights to this short story.
