A Moment to Breath

It is currently 11:52 pm on Wednesday night, and as of this weekend, I have officially participated in my first in person author event. My first "art sale" is going on at a local restaurant for the entire month of May as well. Needless to say, weeks of preparation and stress has finally come to an end, and I am at the awkward in-between stage of any project where I'm not too sure what to do now. My days are loose, no schedule telling me what I need to do next, and I listlessly decide which project to commit to next. It's incredibly discouraging as an artist when you loose your momentum of creativity and drive. That being said, this weekend was worth all the hard work and stress. I didn't sell hundreds of copies of A Journey Paved in Shadows, but I learned a lot and met wonderful people in the local author community.
So what does this mean going forward? For starters, I am still in the editing stages of AJPiS's sequel, and I'm excited to soon announce the title I've settled on and possibly more updates. Moving focus from one book to the next means I can start working on some new projects. I've wanted to do a read-along chapter-by-chapter type of thing for a while with AJPiS. I won't be directly reading each chapter from the book, but I think I will go through each chapter and give a summary of what happens and some insight into how I wrote each scene. This will act as a fun transition to build hype for book two. And given that this will be a decently sized project, I'm hoping directing my efforts towards something will give me the momentum to work on other things too. Sadly, it seems I'm only able to get to work when I have a clear goal for something, but hey, at least my brain is willing to work with me in that small way.
May marks a lot of new chapters in my life. Some professional, others personal. At the moment, I'm excited for what these new journeys will bring, however I'm certain the uncertainty will start to weigh on me eventually. At least the weather is warming so I can get lost in the woods when that starts to happen.
